TRADING UPDATE: 19 AUGUST – 25 AUGUST

With both relatively significant drops in the price of Ether and bitcoin over the last week, and an even greater fall for the gambling upstart TRON, our tracked gambling projects have almost universally taken a hit in terms of their market caps over the last seven days.

There has, however, been one major success story, Wagerr. The blockchain sportsbook has been bullish of late, hyping up its platform with major sports returning to close their seasons off. NBA's return has been particularly welcomed, with a constant flow of first-rate basketball bringing big $WGR bets into its ecosystem. Likewise, the culmination of European football leagues and the Champions League final at the weekend would have also helped its cause.

Its proprietary $WGR token jumped by 18.2% in the period, with its market capitalisation hitting $8.3m. These spikes can be more common at lower capped altcoins, but Wagerr seems to be slowly nudging in the right direction where volatility will play a lesser part in its trajectory. In fact, it has shown that its not afraid to take on the big boys, with Wagerr repeatedly taking seemingly fair swipes at Augur's recent v2 launch.

One token that seems to be capitulating is EDG. Ethereum-based casino Edgeless was once a shining light for blockchain casino technology, but more recently has fallen away from its initial promise, as we've covered in more detail here. Its most recent 13.5% drop has put its market cap perilously close to sinking below the $1m mark, and with volume struggling, it may need a miracle to start rising again.

WINk remains at the top of our rankings, with FunFair sitting behind it in second spot. The latter has faced challenges over Ethereum gas costs of late, but the team has remained positive about its future plans and the group seems well set to take advantage of new opportunities both in and outside the blockchain and gambling sectors.

Gamblers and traders will both be hoping for an upturn in fortunes over the next seven days. Is a bitcoin resurgence on the cards? This could simultaneously drag the market back up again after the latest slump, or do any of our projects have any major news to be unleashed over the coming days to put their fortunes in their own hands? If they do, you can be sure to here about it here first.
