Amazon to launch NFT enterprise

After hints of possible crypto incorporation, the global firm is rumoured to be integrating web 3.0 gaming.

Amazon is reportedly launching a digital assets initiative to its ever-expanding enterprise.

Although such plans are still in the early stages of development, the multinational e-commerce giant is said to be launching its initiative this spring with an overall focus on blockchain gaming.

Sources suggest that cryptocurrency-led blockchain-based games will become available to Amazon users, with the chance to claim free NFTs in the process.

“We knew it was possible”, a source said. “But now it seems like it’s really happening. That’s going to affect the existing players in the space – if they execute and do this right and are smart about it.”

In its early iteration, the plan was to work with one artist for one NFT drop. Since then, the company’s web 3.0 blueprint has evolved significantly.

The platform is reported to be launching on ‘Amazon proper’ as opposed to its traditional web-hosting platform Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The new move instigated by the multinational technology firm may not come as such a surprise to close followers of the company.

Recently, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy hinted at the possibilities of crypto integration. “I expect that NFTs will continue to grow very significantly. We’re not probably close to adding crypto as a payment mechanism in our retail business, but I do believe over time that you’ll see crypto become bigger and – it’s possible [that Amazon ingrates crypto payments]”, he said.
