According to AGA, many sports bettors aren't even aware that they have been betting on illegal operators. Some 55% of people who bet on such operators said that they though they were using a licensed company.
Some 48% people confirmed that they would switch an illegal for a legal sports betting operator in a heartbeat. According to AGA CEO Bill Miller, media and regulators must try to educate consumers on how to avoid offshore betting sites.
Already, some 25% of consumers in the states where sports betting is legal in the USA have withdrawn from offshore operators. Surprisingly, support for regulating sports betting has been posted at over 90% among three groups, to name regular, core and potential gamblers.
AGA cautioned the public that some 52% of all sports bettors in the country took part in illegal gambling activities, even though 74% people said that it's very important to bet at legal markets.
Apparently, Miller argued, there was a lack of clarity and information among consumers, pushing them into the arms of offshore operators. AGA has taken the lead in educating consumers by introducing an interactive map that displays in real-time what states are legalized and where people can safely place a sports bet.
Presently, some alternative sports betting portals include blockchain and crypto gaming sites, such as Sportsbet and Cloudbet. Both are licensed and regulated sportsbooks and offer a quality betting product.
Meanwhile, legal sports betting is finally available to more than 22.4 million people, but sports fans from unregulated states can also bet without breaking the law.
