Italian Serie A side AC Milan has named MonkeyLeague as its new NFT gaming partner.
MonkeyLeague, a Web 3.0 football game built on the Solana blockchain, allows players to build and manage their own ‘dream team’ using MonkeyPlayer NFTs.
Users can choose their players, formations and go head-to-head with real players and climb the table. The game is centred around an in-game currency, MonkeyBucks ($MBS).
As part of the partnership, MonkeyLeague and AC Milan will work together to create club NFT assets, wearables, special game tournaments, co-marketing events and other initiatives.
AC Milan chief revenue officer Casper Stylsvig said: “We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with MonkeyLeague, a collaboration that allows us to strengthen our positioning in the field of digital innovation.
“We are particularly proud to be the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our supporters around the world and offering them a new innovative way to engage with their favourite team.”
MonkeyLeague head of marketing and partnerships Oren Langberg said: “Partnering with champions like AC Milan, an absolute iconic Club throughout football's history, is another testament to what we are building and where we are headed as a game and game studio. It also represents a key step in our plans to bridge the Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 worlds”.
The first launch of brand AC Milan NFT games assets begins in the first week of October on MagicEden, with the digital creations going to the highest bidders.
As part of the partnership, the world-famous football club will sponsor a number of MonkeyLeague esports tournament that will reach millions of fans globally.
